The world in the not-too-distant future is governed by artificial intelligence officially known as AGIE. No longer are there boundaries, religions, or freedom because these fundamental truths are a violation of its edict. A tiny device is implanted in the human eye at birth and connected to the brain to ensure obedience, and the slightest violation to the rule of AGIE’s law is subject to correction ranging from discomfort to death. Jude Beckham has lost a wife and daughter because of an arbitrary decision made by AGIE and he vows to avenge them. Resistance to this world-wide oppression is manifested when Jude secretly organizes a small group of people to try to carry out a revolution of enormous proportions that carries with it life-changing ramifications.

The candle light he was staring into began to blur a little at first and then seemed to become just a sort of glowing entity. It was not a biological entity by any means but still it seemed to emit a glow that spoke to him somehow; not in words, but through some kind of telepathy. It wasn’t communicating anything specific but what Jude was receiving was nevertheless important. It was like a premonition of doom someone gets before boarding an airplane that crashes in its final flight. But the message he was receiving from the glowing presence was not doom, but rather the very opposite. He felt more at peace than he’d ever felt before while meditating. He felt certain that it wasn’t a communication from AGIE, although he didn’t know how or why he felt that way. But, one doesn’t argue with a feeling.
